Privacy notice

This notice explains what TGE Software collects when you use this website, what our software handles when you run it, and what happens to both. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

  • This website has no analytics, no advertising trackers, no third-party fonts, no embedded social widgets, and sets no cookies.
  • The only information you give us here is what you type into the contact form, or send us by email or telephone.
  • The guided assistant runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you click in it is sent to us or to anyone else.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We never have, and we will not.
  • Anything you tell us is used solely to deal with you — to answer you, to license and support what you bought. It is not used for anything else.
  • Our software runs on your own systems and moves your retail data to the service you have chosen. We are not a party to that data in the ordinary course.

1. Who we are

TGE Software LLC is a California limited liability company in Manteca, California, trading as TGE Software. The business has been building integrations for Retail Pro since 2015; it became a limited liability company in 2026. It is TGE Software LLC that decides what is collected and why — there is no parent company, no group, and nobody else in the chain. You can reach us at company@tgesoft.com or 209-679-2802. Our postal address is 614 Schooner Pl, Manteca, CA 95337.

"We" and "us" below mean TGE Software. "This website" means www.tgesoft.com. "Our software" means the connectors and utilities we license to you, which run on your own servers and workstations.

2. What this website collects

2.1 What you send us

The contact form asks for your name and email address, and optionally your telephone number, your company, and which version of Retail Pro you run. It also asks for a subject and a message. Those fields are assembled into an email and sent to us. They are not stored in a database, because there is no database — this site is a set of static files.

The email we receive also records the IP address the message was sent from. That is there so we can recognise abuse of the form, and it is discarded along with the message.

If you email or telephone us directly, we have whatever you chose to tell us, in our mailbox or our notes, for as long as the correspondence is useful.

2.2 What the web server records by itself

Our web host keeps standard access logs. Each request records the requesting IP address, the time, the page or file requested, the referring page if the browser sent one, and the browser's user-agent string. This is the ordinary bookkeeping every web server does; we use it to see whether the site is working and whether it is being attacked, and for nothing else. We do not build profiles from it and we do not connect it to anything you have told us.

2.3 Rate limiting on the contact form

So that the form cannot be used to send floods of mail, the server keeps a small counter file for each sender. The file is named after a one-way cryptographic hash of the IP address — not the address itself — and holds nothing but a list of recent timestamps. It cannot be read backwards to recover the address, and it is overwritten as the hour rolls forward.

2.4 What this website does not do

This is worth stating plainly, because most sites cannot:

  • No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, and no substitute for one.
  • No advertising or tracking pixels. Nothing here reports your visit to an ad network, and we do not run retargeting.
  • No cookies. This site sets none. Nothing here asks you to consent to cookies because there is nothing to consent to.
  • No third-party assets. The typefaces, stylesheets, scripts and images are all served from this domain. Loading a page here does not make your browser talk to Google, to a CDN, or to anyone else.
  • No accounts. There is nothing to register for and no password to lose.

2.5 The guided assistant

The assistant on this site is a scripted decision tree, not an artificial-intelligence service. The whole of it — every question and every answer — is delivered to your browser with the page and runs there. Your choices are held in your browser's session storage so that the conversation survives you moving between pages, and your browser discards that when you close the tab. Nothing you click in the assistant is transmitted to us, and no third party is involved in it at all.

If that ever changes — if we replace it with a hosted or generative service — this notice will say so before the change goes live, not after.

2.6 Downloads

Installers are free to download and ask nothing of you. A download appears in the access logs described in 2.2, the same as any other request.

3. What our software handles

This is the part that matters most to our customers, and it is the part a generated policy always gets wrong.

3.1 Your retail data stays yours

Our connectors run on your systems, inside your network. They read from your Retail Pro installation and send what you have configured them to send to the service you have chosen — Locally, Podium, Endear, Brandify, or another. That transfer is between you and that service, at your direction. We do not receive a copy of your inventory, your customers, or your transactions in the ordinary course of the software running.

What each of those services then does with the data is governed by their privacy notice and your agreement with them, not by this one. We would encourage you to read them; they are not all alike.

3.2 When we do see your data

We see it when you show it to us. Diagnosing a problem often means you sending us a log file, a sample export, or a screenshot, or giving us a remote session onto the machine. Anything we receive that way is used to solve the problem you asked us to solve, and nothing else. We do not retain customer data extracts after a support case is closed, and we do not use them to develop or test against.

3.3 Licence checks

Our connectors confirm their licence with our registration server at least once every twenty-four hours. It is how a cancellation or a renewal reaches the software without anyone having to reinstall anything, and it is why you never have to paste a key into a configuration file.

That check carries a hardware signature — a value derived from the machine the connector is installed on. Its only purpose is to tie a licence to the machine it was issued for, so that one licence cannot be run on several. It identifies a computer, not a person: it is not a name, not an account, and it tells us nothing about who is sitting at the keyboard.

The check-in carries no retail data, no customer records and no transaction detail.

4. Payments

Licences are currently bought through PayPal. When you pay, you are on PayPal's pages and it is PayPal that takes your card or account details — we never see, handle, or store your card number. What reaches us is the confirmation that a payment succeeded, and the name, email address and order detail needed to issue your licence and your invoice.

We are moving to Stripe for subscriptions. The same principle applies and will be stated here before that change is live: the card details go to the payment processor, not to us. When it happens, this section will name Stripe, link its privacy notice, and describe what the subscription record holds.

CardPointe is a special case worth naming: it is a payment integration, so it moves payment data between your point of sale and your own merchant processor, under your own merchant agreement. TGE is not a party to those transactions and does not receive them.

5. What we use information for

Everything we collect is used solely to interact with the person or the company that provided it. That is the whole rule, and everything below is an instance of it rather than an exception to it.

Concretely:

  • To answer you when you have asked us something.
  • To provide, license and support the software you have bought.
  • To issue licences, invoices and renewal notices.
  • To keep the site and the licence server working, and to defend them from abuse.
  • To meet our tax and accounting obligations.

We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we do not build a profile of you.

Every message we send you carries a "no more contact" link at the bottom. One click covers both email and text messages — you do not have to opt out of each channel separately, and you never have to ask us twice.

One carve-out, and it exists to protect you rather than us: if you hold a live licence, we will still send you the things you would be worse off not receiving — an invoice, a notice that a term is about to expire, a reply to something you asked us. Stopping those as well is your call to make, and the link tells you how.

6. Who else sees it

We are a small business and we keep this list short deliberately:

WhoWhat they handleWhy
Our web and email hostWebsite files, access logs, our mailThey run the servers this site and our mailbox sit on
PayPal (and Stripe, when it is live)Your payment details, which never reach usTo take payment
Our accountantInvoices and payment recordsTax and bookkeeping

Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. If we were ever compelled to hand over information about you, we would tell you unless we were forbidden to.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Under California law those terms have specific meanings, and we mean them in that sense as well as the ordinary one. This is not a description of our current arrangements that might quietly change — we will not sell your data, and if that position ever changed you would be told before it did, not after.

7. How long we keep things

WhatHow long
Contact-form messages and email correspondenceAs long as the conversation is live, and afterwards while it remains useful context for supporting you
Web server access logsThe host's ordinary rotation — a matter of weeks
Contact-form rate-limit countersOne hour
Support material you send us for diagnosisDeleted when the case is closed
Licence, order and invoice recordsAs long as the licence is live, and then as long as tax law requires us to keep the record

8. How we look after it

This site is served over HTTPS. The contact form validates and rejects anything that tries to manipulate the mail it generates, and the mail configuration — including the destination address — lives outside the published web directory where a browser cannot reach it. Access to our host and our mailbox is limited to us.

No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say is that the surface here is small on purpose: no database, no accounts, no third-party scripts, and no store of personal information sitting on this website waiting to be breached.

9. Children

This is business software sold to retailers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to company@tgesoft.com and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

10.1 Everyone

Whoever and wherever you are, you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to company@tgesoft.com. We will answer within 30 days. We will not charge you and we will not treat you any differently for asking.

You do not have to write to us to stop hearing from us. Every message we send carries a "no more contact" link, and one click stops both email and texts. Deleting what we hold is the broader request and needs an email; stopping contact needs nothing but the link.

There is usually not much to find — but the answer to "what do you have on me?" should come from looking, not from a policy paragraph, and that is how we will handle it.

10.2 California

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act to know what personal information is collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We honour those requests as described above, whether or not the statute obliges us to — the thresholds it applies at are well above a business this size, and we would rather grant the rights than argue about whether we have to. We have no "sale" of personal information to opt out of, and nothing to disclose under the "shine the light" law, because we share nothing for marketing purposes.

10.3 Outside the United States

We are in California and our servers are in the United States. If you contact us from elsewhere, your message travels here. We do not currently have customers outside the United States, so this notice does not set out the machinery that European or United Kingdom data protection law would require. If that changes, this notice will change with it before it does — see section 12.

Wherever you are, the request routes in 10.1 are open to you and we will act on them.

11. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. There is nothing here for them to switch off — we do not track you across sites and we do not sell or share your information — so honouring them takes no action on our part. It is already the case.

12. Changes to this notice

When this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is material — a new processor, a new category of information, a change in what the assistant does — we will say so on the page rather than let a quiet edit stand for notice.

13. Contacting us about this notice

Email company@tgesoft.com, telephone 209-679-2802, or write to TGE Software, 614 Schooner Pl, Manteca, CA 95337. A person reads it.
