The rule, on an annual licence

If you cancel part-way through an annual term, we refund the months you have not used. Four things qualify that, and all four are worth stating before you need them:

  • The current month is not refunded. A month that has started is a month you have had.
  • Unused months are refunded. Not as credit, not as a voucher — back to the card you paid with.
  • The multi-month discount comes out of the calculation. The annual price is a discount for committing to a year. If you do not stay the year, the months you did use are charged at the ordinary monthly rate.
  • A one-time setup fee is not refunded. Setup fees pay for work that has already been done — installing and configuring a server on your network. That work does not become undone when a licence ends, so the fee stays with it. Only the licence is refundable, on the basis above. Mobile for Retail Pro is the only product that currently carries one.

What that works out to

The arithmetic is one line, and it is the same for every product:

refund = what you paid − (months used × the monthly price)

So on a $600 annual licence at $60 a month, cancelling during month four returns$600 − (4 × $60) = $360. Not $480, which is what eight unused months at the monthly rate would come to — that figure would hand back the discount as well as the time.

Monthly licences

A monthly licence has nothing to refund, and the reason is the rule above rather than a second policy: you have prepaid exactly one month, the month you are in is not refunded, and so the arithmetic comes to zero every time. Cancelling stops the next charge and the licence runs to the end of the month you have paid for.

That is the trade. Monthly costs more over a year and commits you to nothing; annual is cheaper and asks you to commit. Neither is the trick option — if you are unsure which you want, take the monthly and move to annual once you know.

Where it reaches zero

Back on the annual licence: because it costs less than twelve months' worth of the monthly price, the refund runs out before the year does. We would rather you knew that from this page than worked it out afterwards:

ProductMonthlyAnnualAnnual price coversCancel in month 4
Locally$60$60010 months$360 back
Brandify$40$3609 months$200 back
Podium$40$3609 months$200 back
Hippo$40$3609 months$200 back
Endear$60$60010 months$360 back

Per store inventory. Cancel after the covered months and the term simply runs to its end with nothing further to pay.

If you were overcharged

This is the case that actually comes up. If you paid twice, paid for inventories you do not have, or paid for something you did not mean to buy, tell us and we will refund the difference and correct the licence expiry to match. There is no window on that and no argument about it — it was our invoice that was wrong.

How to ask

Cancelling online through the billing portal stops the renewal; it does not by itself issue a refund. If you are owed one, emailcompany@tgesoft.com or call 209-679-2802and say so. A person calculates it, tells you the figure before processing it, and it goes back to the card you paid with.

What is not refundable

Nothing else is, and there is not much else to be. The software is a free download, so you are never paying for something you have not been able to run first. Custom development work is governed by its own contract rather than by this page.
